Press Release: Sustainability Champion to host AD and Biogas Industry Awards Ceremony 2024

The winners of this year’s competition will be revealed at the NCC in Birmingham on 10 July

Sustainability Champion Chris Hines MBE, former Director of the Eden Project and Special Adviser to Minister for the Environment Michael Meacher, will be hosting the AD and Biogas Industry Awards Ceremony 2024 at the National Conference Centre in Birmingham in the evening of 10th July.

Run annually by the Anaerobic Digestion and Bioresources Association (ADBA) and the World Biogas Association (WBA), the AD and Biogas Industry Awards celebrate excellence and innovation in the global anaerobic digestion (AD) and biogas sector.

Fifty finalists across 11 categories will find out whether they will go home with the coveted winner’s trophy or be highly commended in this year’s competition. Dozens of organisations and individuals from all over the world entered this year’s competition, representing all continents of the world bar Oceania, with competitors from countries as diverse as Canada, Brazil, Japan, India, Sri Lanka and Turkey.

Dedicated to delivering positive change, Chris Hines is also famed as the Co- Founder and Director for 10 years of Surfers Against Sewage, and the Owner of A Grain of Sand, both companies dedicated to saving the environment. Shortlisted for the 1999 Green Politics, he provided evidence to Commons and Lords Committees and received an MBE in 2008 for Services to the Environment.

The evening of celebration to recognise excellence and innovation in the world of AD and biogas will feature a gala dinner with live entertainment and plenty of opportunities to network with industry professionals and key stakeholders. It will coincide with the World Biogas Expo taking place at the nearby NEC in Birmingham on 10-11 July – also organised by ADBA and WBA – and the World Biogas Summit solely organised by WBA.
